So, the school kicks out the kid because “his classmates were moved to comment on the style and that may have made them less able to concentrate.”
Sounds like the problem was with the classmates. Imagine if the kid was bald due to medical treatments. Kids would still make comments and be distracted, but there would be no talk of removing anyone I bet. This whole thing could have been used as an example to teach the whole classroom how to behave in class (this is kindergarten, after all) and to be respectful to others.
